Our community.
Our commitments.

A transparent explanation of the society's stated membership model, benefits, limitations and matters requiring written confirmation.

KNOW BEFORE YOU JOIN

Membership rules, clearly explained.

The information below comes from the society's supplied brief and voice notes. It is an explanation, not an approved policy, contract or guarantee of payment. Obtain final signed terms from Stocklasa before joining or paying.

01

Joining & membership

R500 once-off registration. A branded T-shirt and membership card are described as joining benefits. The society states no monthly premium, age limit or waiting period; event-based contributions remain separate.

02

Five named nominees

Each main member may nominate five people. Replacing a nominee following a death is described as costing R500. Changes require the society's acceptance and updated records.

03

Burial or cash option

Two assistance options are described at R5,000. A separate statement refers to 90% burial allowance for a main member and 90% cash allowance for a nominee. The base used for these percentages has not been clarified.

04

Funeral contributions

Members are asked to contribute R50 when a qualifying funeral occurs. The society says it tops up collected contributions to R5,000 when short and caps assistance at R5,000 when collections exceed that amount. Handling of excess collections requires disclosure.

05

Five-year cashback

R3,000 cashback is described after each five-year period where five nominees remain on the membership, whether or not a previous claim occurred. Eligibility, funding and payout dates require written confirmation.

06

Duplicate nominee cover

A nominee listed by multiple members is described as eligible for one nominee benefit only, not multiple burials or cash payouts. The society should maintain a reliable duplicate-check process.

07

Main member with dual roles

The society describes a main member potentially receiving burial assistance under their own membership and cash assistance if also named as another member's nominee. Precise circumstances and percentage calculations require formal approval.

08

Burial service partner

Stocklasa is a funeral society, not a funeral parlour. A separate funeral home is described as delivering burial services. The funeral home's verified name, service scope and contractual role must be confirmed.

09

Tombstone arrangements

Tombstones are described from R10,000 upwards, with a R5,000 society contribution and the remainder payable by the family. Availability, designs, provider and qualifying conditions need written terms.

10

Claims & records

Claims should be verified against the member register, nominee details and supporting documents. Official claim requirements, processing times, disputes and appeals procedures are still to be supplied.

IMPORTANT DISCLOSURES

What still needs verification?

Before taking online payments or issuing active membership credentials, Stocklasa should confirm its legal entity and registration details, applicable South African regulatory obligations, the exact 90% benefit formula, claim exclusions, financial handling of contributions, privacy policy and written membership terms.
